About Us

About Us

We are a couple with two boys (ages 7 and 5) living in Seattle. We came to Seattle in 2008 to study at the University of Washington and since then have fallen in love with the natural beauty of the area and enjoy exploring the many beautiful sites around Washington state.

Entering into our 9th year in Seattle, we began to look back at our favorite places and started a blog to make a record of our memories. During this time, many friends around us that had just moved into the area or otherwise had plans to visit asked us for advice on where to go and what to do to enjoy their time here in full. This made us think that our experience could be helpful to other people like us – especially families with young kids that are looking for short (or long) kid-friendly trips and activities in the area.

Many places in the Seattle area are great to visit any time of the year while others have a seasonal influence and can be visited during a certain time only, so we have categorized locations by months of the year. For each location, we first introduce a summary of the information that we research before heading out and then share some pictures of the sites.

This blog is a collection of our family’s memories and the information that we have researched, as well as pictures that we have taken ourselves – so rather than presenting viewers with professional travel information, its intention is to share our weekly casual and refreshing getaways for ideas on spending time with the kids and showing them the great outdoors.

In addition, we have published family-friendly trip guidebooks to national parks and monuments in the US. We would like to share our experience at each park for families like us planning to visit national parks with young kids.

In this book, we have organized a summary of our family’s trip including a brief journal of our journey, information that we researched before the trip, tips that we realized would be good to know and pictures. Because this trip is focused on travelling with young children, the difficulty level is mostly based on ‘easy’ courses with a couple of ‘moderately challenging’ attractions.

If you find any incorrect information, typos, or any content that otherwise needs to be revised, please leave us a message through the Contact Us page or send us an email at info@gostrollers.com.

The time we have spent arranging our blog and publishing books each night after putting the kids to bed has been a rewarding time in which we could look back on our journeys and happy times we enjoyed together as a family.

Whether it be a new location or a favorite spot revisited, our weekly adventures will continue and we are happy to be able to share them with you. 🙂

Summary of the Information

A description of the summary page in each post is as follows.

  • Getting There
The name and address of the location along with a Google map driving direction link from downtown Seattle.
  • Distance and Travel Time (from downtown Seattle)
The distance (miles) and time (approximate hours and minutes) it takes to get there from downtown Seattle.
  • Trip Type
Categorizes whether the location is close enough for a light ‘Outing,’ a bit further but still do-able in a day (‘Day trip’), or further away requiring a night’s sleep (‘Overnight trip’). Some areas near Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, BC, Canada both of which are close enough to visit from Seattle in a not so long road trip, have also been included in the list of locations.
  • Parking
We know how urgent finding parking can be when arriving at a location with restless young children in the back seat, so have included information on convenient parking locations at each site.
  • More Info
We have included links to websites for those who would like to see more specific up-to-date information about the area.
  • When to Go
Some places are great to visit year long but others are best to visit only at certain times of the year so we have included this information in this section.
  • Things to Do
When travelling with kids, it is important that they find something fun to do and enjoy themselves, so we have included a brief summary of the things that our family have enjoyed at each location.
  • Tips
This section is a list of things that we felt would have made the trip more easier and more pleasant had we known beforehand, and also some useful tips from firsthand experience.
  • Other Months
Some locations are wonderful to visit year long – each with such different scenery and beauty with the changing seasons. We have included links for how the location looks at a different time of year for your reference.
