- Distance and Travel Time (from downtown Seattle): 195 miles (3h 13m)
- Trip Type: Day trip or Overnight trip
- When to Go
Any time of year (Choose a day that is less windy – preferably in spring and autumn, the falls have the most heaviest water flow in spring)
- Things to Do
Take a stroll, explore the trail, enjoy the falls
- Tips
1) Follow the 0.2 mile trail up to the Benson Bridge but use caution – it can get slippery with the water from the falls and in winter.
2) If you are in for a bigger challenge follow the 1.0 mile trail past the Benson Bridge upward towards the top of the falls. The trail is accessible with strollers but it is narrow and steep at times so use a child carrier instead.
3) If your family is not used to spending long hours in the car, spending a night in Portland is a good option.
4) Exploring the Columbia River Gorge area on the way to and from the falls is also good.
