- When to Go
July to Aug (The Lavender festival takes place on the third weekend of July each year. In 2017, it’s held from July 21 to 23.)
- Things to Do
Ferry ride, enjoy the farms, Upick lavender, small performances, various activities and vendors at the festival, etc.
- Tips
1) Unless you are interested in visiting during the festival period, avoid these dates to avoid the crowd. (Also note that Purple Haze and Jardin Du Soleil both charge $10 per person (children 12 and under free) to visit during the festival but are free on other dates. If visiting during the festival, go early.)
2) You can pick your own lavenders to bundle up and place around the house to enjoy its fragrance for up to two years.
3) The lavender ice cream that is sold on the farm (all summer at Purple Haze and during the festival dates on other farms) is delicious so make sure to try it.
4) At Jardin Du Soleil, a professional photographer will take a picture for you with your camera free of charge (tips accepted) – the long line is worth the wait.
5) At B&B Family Farm, you can enjoy a guided tour around the barn where the lavender are dried, cleaned and processed for oil.
6) If you set out early, you can visit Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park as well.
