- Tips
1) Pacific Beach can be accessed from SR 115, W Chance a La Mer NW or Pacific Blvd NW by car. There is a public restroom at the entrance to the beach on Chance a La Mer NW. You can drive and park your car onto the packed sand on the beach. All or 4 wheel drive cars are recommended but people usually help cars that get stuck in the sand.
2) The beach at Damon Point is less windy and the waters are more calm so it is good for young children. The soft sand is also good to play with on this beach. You can also enjoy the beach trail to Protection Island.
3) After enjoying the beach, you can stop by the Coastal Interpretive Center for a rest and learn many interesting facts about the ocean life of the area. They have an abundance of informative material and friendly volunteers that guide the exhibits. There is also a small play area and a short trail behind the building.
4) It can get pretty chilly even on sunny days with high temperatures if there is wind so be sure to check the weather and take along a jacket.
5) If your family is not used to spending long hours in the car, make it an overnight trip.
