When to Go
Any time of year (Great park to enjoy year round but can be chilly on windy days in winter and spring)
Things to Do
Enjoy a walk in the park, throw stones in the water from the rocky shore, watch trains, enjoy seasonal blooms, bikes or scooters on Elliot Bay Trail
Tips
1) Bikes/scooters must be walked in the up-hill part of the park, but if you can help your child carry these things in your all-purpose cart (aka your stroller), the kids will enjoy riding on the Elliot Bay Trail.
2) If you head towards Alaskan Way when you get downhill, you can see the train crossing bar come up and down when the train passes through the street near the Father and Son fountain.
3) Following the trail towards 3rd Ave until you get to the pedestrian bridge that goes over the train tracks and turning back from there makes a good outing – of course, you can follow the trail further depending on how well the kids are doing. Views from the pedestrian bridge are fun, too. (Kids love running up and down the ramp)
